Logistics question -- Which side of V Falls?
IF my trip were to start at Matetsi (Zimbabwe side) and I were to travel from Cape Town.....
I would be looking at one or two nights at VF to fit in sightseeing. I presumed I should fly to Livingston and stay on the Zimbabwe side.
Does it matter which side logistically? Is either side OK? Does it matter if I fly into VF or LVI?

Personally, I would choose to spend additional time at Matetsi. You will only be an hour or less from Victoria Falls while being provided with free transfers during the day. The nicer Victoria Falls lodges are just as expensive, and in some cases, MORE expensive than Matetsi and will not be able to offer you morning and night game drives and some of them will not be all-inclusive.

No you can fly into the town of Victoria Falls, no need to go via livingston, by doing so you will be required to spend additional $$ on visa fees. Zambia will charge you for a multiple entry even though you are just transiting.
The time of year that you visit the falls is going to impact your trip as the view of the falls from the Zim side is always good, however from Zambia the falls are parctically dry from early September through until about Dec/Jan.

Thanks for the help.
I am going to book a moderate hotel in Victoria Falls for the one night to fit in sightseeing. Then when we get to Matetsi, we can just enjoy being there and not worry about "having" to go to VF, but it will still be an option

I like to "be" in a place rather than travel an hour or so to "visit", so your visit is more leisurely-- you can linger over drinks at the Vic Falls Hotel, have dinner, do the infamous river cruise (fun), shop at leisure, instead of just zipping in after breakfast with a return in time for dinner.
Vic Falls doesn't merit a long stay, but it is a nice night or two. Ilala Lodge might be the choice for a moderate stay.
And if you choose a place on the Zambia side, you should be able to get the tourist waiver from your hotel and avoid visa fees.
