Lodges in the Kalahari
Hi there, A mere 4 years ago I stayed at a gorgeous lodge in the Nambian kalahari, but I just can not recall the name of it, does anyone have any suggestions for accomodation in the Kalahari? Those red dunes are stunning as is the wildlife and this area is an easy drive from Windhoek.

South or east of Windhoek? Both could be an "easy drive".
South, I'll report on Bagatelle sometime soon (with some pictures) and Intu Afrika is back from the brink and running smoothly again. I think both can be recommended - even though game densities are not that high and the properties are quite tightly fenced in.
I'm afraid I have no idea heading east.
I'm sure between everyone here we could identify the lodge if you want... give us some clues.

There is a new one coming soon (July) in the Kgaligadi Transfrontier Park (Peace Park. It's run as a joint venture with the local KhoiSan community who recently won the land back in a settlement agreement reached between the South African Government and South African National Parks. The land originally belonged to the community before it was incorporated in 1931 into the then Kalahari Gemsbok National Park. The cutting edge of ecotourism, I'd say. I will certainly be paying it a visit in time.

oh my, please tell me more information; I have not kept up, but was certainly aware of the situation with the bushmen. Do you have a website or any link I can check out to learn more...

I just found the website and indeed this is huge; I am so happy to see this venture going through. The prices are a bit too steep for my budget; if I read the price list correctly, it is 295 PER PERSON. Way too spendy. Oh well
