Local Tanzania companies
Me and my fiance are planning for a 7 days and 5 days trips to Tanzania and Zanzibar respectively. We do not want to use home companies as they seem pricey and not contributing much to the economy of the local people of Tanzania.
This is my first time here.
Would any one help us to find what local Tanzanian company is suitable?
Your help would be much appreciated
Thanks.

Hey ,
Earlier in January last month i was on Safari in Arusha for 5 days as a solo female traveller . My itinerary was on Tarangire /Serengeti/Ngorongoro and visit O'doinyo Lengai . I did this by joining with others who formed a group and i joined them through swahili paradise tours who has the link there for the solos or other people who wants to share the safari , and it costed me only us$ 800 to join the group , actually the safari was awesome and the group members were wonderful and friendly people to share their stories and experiences in their life time on safari and other stuffs , so i felt i wasn't alone , but i was with people who were as my family . And their service was quit excellent , cook was okey , dishes were delicious , the English guide '' John '' was knowledgeable guy . So i make a history in my life there . So i think you may used this link here to find a group to join http://swaptoursgroups.webs.com/ i used this link to join the group there .
Zanzibar is touristy island but my recommendation if you want to stay in town and countryside beaches just spend few days 3 or 4 days at Stone town then you can move to Northern part of island which is Nungwi , the place has many beautiful resort where you can have peace of your mind and the beach is white sandy beach , even the water are warm and has flat sea level and no sea weed stuff you may take a look of some resorts here http://zanzibarhotels.webs.com/north-resorts . And there are many Island tours if you're lover of island excursions , but all in all i recommend you to do Sunset dhow cruise this excursion will give you a really sensation of being on Island .
Hope my information will help you to plan your trip there ! .
Cheers ,
Cathy

I might also add that The Wild Source in Colorado also has a Tanzania company that definitely helps the local economy. They price their safaris fairly for whatever budget you have. There is also the added advantage of having the safari planned by a wildlife biologist. In Tanzania, they have their own research camp in the Serengeti with a Tanzanian wildlife biologist on staff. They also have great guides there, one of whom is a co-owner.

Access2Tanzania has an office in Tanzania, employs its own guides in Tanzania (rather than contract out) and also has Project Zawadi, a volunteer program you can choose to participate in (or not) as part of your safari there. I used A2T to plan my TZ safari in 2013 and was very pleased. They have a US presence that you can contact for ease of access, and their website can tell you more about how they give back in TZ. The owners met in Tanzania while in the Peace Corps, and this company is their way of continuing to contribute to the region.
