Thanks to some friends we are getting a great opportunity to travel to SA this September. I'm relieved and concerned that all the Kruger planning is in someone else's hands.
A few questions, does it make a difference weather wise if one travels the first two weeks or the last two weeks of September?
There is the possibility of mid-April travel. I think the weather might be better and I would have more time to wrap my head around (obsess about) the trip. But, we also risk the offer being withdrawn.
Thoughts?
Kruger and Capetown - Early September to late September. Does it matter?

All of September is a good month to visit. For Kruger, it is slightly more likely to rain in late September than early September, but the rainy season typically doesn't begin until October/November.
I'd also much prefer September to April for the Kruger area. The grasses are brown and low and waterholes fewer in September. April has green and high grasses and plentiful water. That translates to better game viewing in September.

I can't answer for Kruger, Sept is a great time in Cape Town, spring flowers & whales.
Thank you. Would Capetown be very cold in September?
Temps were high 60s low 70s (F) when we were there last September. Weather has been perfect for me in both April (a little windy then) and September.
Thanks for your help!
CPT's weather (as most times of year!) can very from pretty warm and stunning sunshine to cold, windy and wet. Unlikely to be any extremes, including not too cold at night. Sept. is a great time to visit, particularly for the reasons braaiseason mentions. Enjoy!
