The two birds in the crater are crowned cranes, and I think the monkey that Jay tried to pet is actually a vervet monkey.

Wow--those Kili photos are stunning. And I agree with the others: you look great, non-comatose, etc.

It also seems as if you saw plenty of animals on your safari--cheetahs, lions, leopards, pythons, eles, giraffes, the rhino--especially considering it was on the short side. Some excellent there shots too!

Great pictures...you had quite an adventure. I was able to catch a glimpse of the top of Kiliminjaro myself...on my Precision flight from Zanzibar to Nairobi!

Your final picture of the chest...I had to carry two of those things home...unfortunately, I was holed up at the Serena Inn on the final day, unable to walk much due to my toe and I knew that Alexsandra unleashed would be a problem and she returned to the room later that afternoon with PORTERS carrying all her goods she had bought!

Unfortunately I never made it to the E&G for dinner, eating dinner both nights at the Serena Inn, although there was also live entertainment at the Serena.

Yes, we certainly did see a ton when we were in the Crater, and I guess I was spoiled by it - or maybe it's just my ignorance about the numbers of animals in the Serengeti - it was difficult to drive around for an hour and not see one thing, other than 5 wildebeest, you know?

Patty - oops! I think you're right about the vervet, not colobus! My bad!

Rocco - LOL I am dying over here at Alexsandra having porters carry stuff that she bought ahahahaa! I would have loved to have purchased more authentic things to bring home, but we had 8 total items as it was, and I didn't feel like dealing with the nightmare of shipping! Isn't that chest awesome? I love it!

What a wonderful collection of photos to accompany that terrific report. The Kili shots are quite amazing. You seem to have seen quite a bit of action in and around the Crater. All in all I would say an incredible experience.
