Kenya Honeymoon advice (Help)
Hi Guys,
I have arranged a honeymoon for my partner as a surprise (the wedding is not a surprise!!)
Just got some questions. If anyone could assist i would be very grateful
We will be traveling on the 1st of September this year to diani beach resort and spar for 16 days. Aside from the safari trips has anyone got any knowledge on what other activities/excursions are on offer? We are both early 30's, very sociable, easy going and always consider any suggestions.
Also, what is the best currency to take? we are both from the UK, i have read that some people take US dollar and others take Kenyan shilling, are there pros and cons on both sides? Would anyone recommend travelers cheques?
I have always been a fan of rewarding good service with tips, what is the exceptable amount to tip in this region of the world.
What are the plug sockets like in kenya, is it a typical UK 3 pin socket or will i require a form of adapter?
Any other general advise/rules of thumb or just good tips would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards
LL

When you say "aside from the safari trips" do you mean you've already organised a safari side trip from the Diani Beach Resort or that you won't be spending any time on safari?
I've only been on safari in Kenya, so can't comment on beach resort activities.
Regarding money, on safari we've found it easiest to take dollars and we've given tips in dollars too. I think this is very common, though a few people here on Fodors and elsewhere have commented that this may or may not be convenient as staff then have to get the money changed. Some employers do this for free, some charge for it, so it has been said.
My brain has gone blank on plugs/ sockets!
(I'm Brit too)

My brain is working (and I'm not a Brit ), so it's a 3-prong UK adapter plug! However, I've come upon a few places that use the 2-round prong European (as France) adapter plug. Whichever, they're small enough to take both just in case.

Kavey, we have got some inland safaris booked already, it seems on a lot of forum sites all members seem to mention is the safaris so the question is really are there any other actives or "must do's", ie, superb restaurant or dolphin swim, markets etc etc

Aah, I understand!
There are a lot of safari addicts here, it's true!
Are there any forums for beach lovers, you could check those out too? I don't know, I melt in the heat (OK I get heatstroke) so I've never been a beach bird!

Suggest you check out the Trip Advisor Forums for Kenya.
www.tripadvisor.com/forums - select Africa, select Kenya. Post your question there asking about activities to do when on the Mombasa coast... lots of info from regular visitors to this area.
