Just back from Zambia - North Luangwa

We (me and Elisabetta, my wife) come back from an amazing travel in Zambia.
We spent 10 days in the park of North Luangwa with a very nice person: Ramon (nickname: Monbush) in his camps: Delia Camp and Nkalamo. In addition.. we did an extraordinary trekking between the two camps: five days.. 70 km... an unforgettable experience.
Last 3 days in South Luangwa (Kafunta Lodge).

I will post as soon as possible a detailed report (the english language isn't my friend..!!)

Sorry for my poor english

Stefano

Usually the standard activity in Delia Camp is:

Morning: 3-4 hours walking safari
Afternoon (and night): 3-4 hours night drive (they leave 1 hour before the sunset).

The local guides are very competent!

The English is just fine! 10 days in NL is outstanding. I'll do half that next year. Any wildlife sightings you care to share?

Stefano,

Thanks for sharing ..... and, we find your English perfect!

Delia camp sounds very interesting .... especially, if you factor in the 3-4 hour night drive to add to all the walking. Did you walk for a bit in the afternoon also, prior to the night drive?

Thanks,
Hari

Wonderful to see the north park from a visitor's eye! Great photos, and yes, North Luangwa does look like a great place! Certainly on my short list!

OK Stefano, time for a report!

Stefano your English is a 1,000 percent better than my Italian!!! I recall you posted on the airlines board asking advice about checking luggage straight through at LHR to Lusaka or picking it up at LHR rechecking. What did you end up doing and how did it go?

I stayed at Kafunta in the SLNP and in the NLNP last year and am returning to the NLNP in a few weeks. Your photos make me want to start packing now!!

Look forward to hearing more on your experience at Delia Camp and on your mobile walking trip. Yours will be the first report I have read from anyone who has stayed at this new camp and also the first report on their unique mobile tented walking trips.

Hope the mountain holiday was enjoyable. Only 6 months of English? You must have studied very intensively.

Your photos have me eager for July to roll around when I head to N/S Luangwa. I liked the one of you along the river for a self portrait. You had some great hippo action--pods, open mouth, and a big guy standing alone. Aren't the puku sweet little antelopes? Nice you saw a leopard at night in SL.

Thanks.

trip report in progress...

@GreenDrake: I checked luggage straight through at LHR to Lusaka.
Fortunately.. no problems. But.. the owner of Delia Camp (Ramon) said me that there is a high percentage of lost luggages (30-40%). Especially in Johannesburg airport.

Cheers

Stefano
