Jordan safety concerns

We are considering a tour of Jordan but wonder about safety with , especially, Amman's proximity to Syria. Thoughts or advice?

You might want to read this trip report - they were in Jordan in the last 3 weeks and speak to the feeling of safety/security.

(we also had Bashar as a driver/guide and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him and we loved Jordan!)

Amman is nowhere near Syria. Granted and sadly there are many Syrian refugee camps in Jordan, nowadays, but these are at the very far east which is closer to Syria. Jordan and the sightseeing you'll be doing here is probably one of the safest countries in the Middle East.

I saw a new refugee camp near the tourist area of Madaba, but I didnt find it a negative. We have never felt unsafe in Jordan, and encourage you to go. Unfortuantely regional tensions have really impacted Jordan, the hotels are only fractionally full

Make sure to visit Jerash, and plan on at least 4 hours there

And don't skimp on Petra. Three nights/two days minimum.

Agree with above posts. Visited Jordan in November 2014 for 7 days. Did not feel unsafe at any stage, although I was on a small group tour for all but one day. The Jordanians are very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately, as mentioned above, the tensions in the region has significantly impacted on tourism in Jordan as well

Have a great trip
