It's FINALLY happening! Rwanda/Kenya - Aug 2016

After 8 long years since the first trip, the first return trip to Africa is finally becoming a reality. The planning phase is more or less complete, and deposits are paid.

Itinerary is:

Day 1 – Depart US
Day 2 – Arrive Brussels
Day 3 - Brussels - Couple days in Brussels to break up the long flights and adjust to time change.
Day 4 – Brussels
Day 5 – Brussels -> Kigali - o/n Great Seasons Hotel
Day 6 – Kigali Sightseeing ----> Ruhengeri - o/n Mtn Gorilla View Lodge
Day 7 – Gorilla Tracking - o/n Mtn Gorilla View Lodge
Day 8 – Golden Monkey Tracking - o/n Mtn Gorilla View Lodge
Day 9 – Gorilla Tracking - o/n Mtn Gorilla View Lodge
Day 10 – Sightseeing En Route To & Depart Kigali

Arv. NBO - o/n HOW
Day 11 – NBO; sightseeing - o/n HOW

Day 12 – Fly to Samburu - o/n Elephant Bedroom
Day 13 - 14 – Samburu - o/n Elephant Bedroom

Day 15 – Fly to Mara - o/n Mara Bush Camp
Day 16-18 – Maasai Mara - o/n Mara Bush Camp

Day 19 – Road transfer for - o/n Speke's Camp
Day 20 - 21 – Maasai Mara - o/n Speke's Camp
Day 22 – Fly to NBO; NBO sightseeing as time allows; transfer to JKIA (B) Depart for US

We have intentionally planned a lot of time in the Mara in the hopes of viewing a river crossing and allowed some time to sit by the river and see the activity of the migration.

Working with: Amahoro Tours for Rwanda. Anne has been great through the entire process. This trip was originally supposed to happen last year, but had to be postponed. Anne was gracious and we picked right back up where we left off when I emailed to resume the process for this year.

Africa Serendipity for Kenya. Sandi always provides fantastic service. Can't say enough.

Now to review notes from last time and start the packing/shopping list.

Looks good. Gorillas, the migration, and a likely sighting of Manneken Pis. Now that's an itinerary!

Congratulations!!! Sounds incredible! I'm jealous, in a nice way. Love your choice of Kenya parks/fame preserves. (I don't get the need for traveling around loads and loads of parks, when you can see so much in just these two!)
Were you at Samburu on your first trip? I was first there in 2014 and dream of returning some day.I was lucky to see migration and river crossings in MM in both June and August visits...will keep fingers crossed for you!!

Thanks all. We are super excited.

CaliNurse - Yes, I visited Samburu on first trip as well. Fell in love with it and didn't even consider returning to Kenya without including Samburu in the itinerary. We have "budgeted" up to three days to sit and wait for river crossings. Hopefully the "Beests" cooperate. ;-)

We stayed at Elephant Bedroom camp last fall. Absolutely magical. If you get Julius for your guide, you are in for a special treat!
