We are thinking of traveling to Morocco over the summer school vacation, some time in June, July or August for two weeks. We are experienced international travelers and have always been fascinated with Morocco. We want to stay in Marrakech and have read about short camel treks in the desert which sound interesting. Other than that we are just beginning our research so are interested in ideas from other travelers!
Any suggestions for an itinerary? How hot (and humid) will it be during the summer? We typically like cultural experiences - not so much interested in spending a lot of time at a beach resort.
Fodors has always been a great help for other destinations to I hope to hear some good feedback from this board.
Thanks!!!

Hi,
We stayed in marrakech for a few days and then on to the Kasbah du Toubkal in the High Atlas mountains! You can go trekking and camel riding here.
See my website for all the information about places to stay and eat in Marrakech and about the Kasbah too.

hi, i'm a teen and i literally just came back from marrakech.

if your staying there, one week as itself is waaaay too long to spend there. Not only that but you run out of ideas after a few days. definately go on outings, i went on the ourika valley one and it was stunning there and was well worth the trek!!
during the summer, it can reach upto 52 degrees. we went and it was already reaching peaks of about 38. If your looking for culture make sure you visit the Jamma el Fnaa (i think thats how its spelt) wonderful food there every night.
The souks are very crowded and once you go in, theres no definite way of ever coming out
If your thinking about going on Fantasia...do denfinately go -the culture is rich and its very beautiful...although the horses in the show were a bit thin and malnourished. Also it is quite a rip off for the dinner. They just serve you a load of couscous, and if your staying in marrakech you would have already have had loads of that!!! I wish i would have gone for the drinks option, as the drinks dont come free with the dinner!
Also beware of the sellers. If they know you dont speak arabic or french, or even if you simply look foreign, they will immediately try and rip you off.
This is probably a bit late...but i thought i'd comment anywayyss
