Itinerary Help for 2 Weeks in Israel

I would like help developing an itinerary for a two week solo trip to Israel. I'll be 62, female, and although that should be irrelevant, it's worth mentioning. I'm interested in history more than religion, would love to find accommodations in a Muslim or Jewish budget environment, and need good recommendations for reputable day trips that don't require time shopping.

I think I want to spend one week just in Jerusalem, but want to visit other well known sites either prior to or after that so I'm flexible. Any suggestions for an itinerary beginning in Tel Aviv and ending in Jerusalem would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any and all feedback!
