Israel vs Jordan

Jump to last reply

I am not asking which of these two countries to visit.

I have been to Jordan and there are certain things in Israel I am not sure are worthwhile as these maybe the same/similar as some of the sights in Jordan. I have a question about the Golan Heights and Yardenit.

How are the Golan Heights different to Umm Qais and the surrounding area in Jordan? I am debating if these are worthwhile?

I'd like to hear from fodorites who have been to Yardenit (the baptism sight) and Bethany beyond Jordan, how do the sights differ? I am not religious and I get the impression that Yardenit is a very commercialized tourist trap.

Is Haifa a must see? Just a port city? Worthwhile? I am interested in the Bahai Gardens but wonder if I am better off spending an extra day or two in Jerusalem?

Finally, I realize some Fodorites wll have been to Israel and not Jordan, if so and you can comment on the above sights please chime in.

Thank you.
