Israel Adapter/converter

Is there a website that sells hair tools (straightening iron, curling iron) that are already compatible with Israel? I do not like to use the hotel hair dryers, want to bring my own that is more powerful. I also like to travel with a small noise machine.... I have an adapter and a converter, but by about day 4 the motor started to wear out. Are there some American products that just cannot work because of the voltage? I know this is probably as basic a question as there is, I apologize, but I need the converting and adapting dumbed down apparently. Thank you!

Electric current in Israel is 220 volts, 50 hz, while in North America it is 110 volts, 60 hz - what this means is that in addition to a plug adapter for any electrical appliance (charger, etc) to work properly it must either be dual voltage or you need a converter or transformer.

Most phone, computer, camera chargers today are dual voltage - check what is printed on the appliance - if it says 110-240 volts and 50-60 hz then no problem and all you need is a plug adapter.

If it does not - then you need to change the voltage that is feeding your electrical item and if it is something that produces heat - such as a hair dryer, curling iron, hair straightener, etc. then it will need a powerful transformer which not only costs a lot of money but will weigh about 10 lbs or more - certainly not something that you want to carry with you. If you don't use the proper transformer you will simply fry your hair dryer.

In terms of places to buy something for here - that depends on where you live - in most major matropolitan areas there are stores that carry these things, or you can just buy something basic here once you get here.

My wife simply bought what she needed in a store called "Super-Pharm" (Israel's version of CVS, etc.)

You are better off buying the adapter plugs in the country you are residing in rather than waiting as they will have the opening that fits the plugs on your equipment but will have the correct plug on the part that goes into the wall for the country of your destination. If you wait until you arrive somewhere they might not have the correct adapter that fits your equipment if that makes sense Most travel stores have them or google it. I did buy one on line once but sorry I can't find where I got it. I usually buy mine at travel or luggage stores.

Shar- your suggestion may be valid for many countries but I have never seen an electrical store in Israel that does not carry converters for American plugs - they are available everywhere.
