I'd like to buy an inexpensive, no-frills cell phone for international travel, in case I need to make local calls; I would not use it much. I'd buy a SIM card in each destination. Where in the West Los Angeles area might I find such a phone? The internet is a possibility, but I would need to be able to get it in a week. Our first international stop will be Israel, for 2 weeks. Would it make sense to buy it there?
Thanks!

Take a look at http://www.talknsave.net/ to see if it might work for you.
My friend got hers at Best Buy before we went to Kenya this past August.
www.mobal.com They have a good selection and you could check with them to see how fast they could get a phone to you. In your local area, you might even check someplace like Walmart for an unlocked GSM phone.
