I'm back... (ohmigosh!)
Just wanted everyone to know I am back on the board after an absence of a year or so! I see lots of familiar names, nice to see everyone is still around. And I even see some names I haven't seen in eons that are posting again!
Vacations were cruises over the last two years, but I am back in the saddle & gearing up for our 4th East African safari in May 2013.

Most welcome back!!!! I've wondered about your absence. Trust you and DH are well. Happy to hear you are planning a safari. My last one ("last" perhaps in every since of the word) was last May. FWIW, my Fodors report is on the topic list here, now 31 down.

Me too... wondering where you went? Glad to hear it was some vacation time, though cruises would never be my idea of a holiday. Regardless, you did, enjoyed and glad to have you back and that you're planning a return visit to the Motherland!

Hi Lynda! Great to see you back on the forum again. You've been missed. My hope is to get to Tz again next year in May, so maybe we can plan a GTG there
Hi Nyamera! You've been missed too. Glad you popped in to say hi as well.

Sorry I didn't mean to post & then desert everyone again! Sometimes I just cannot believe how busy life can get when you don't need it to.
It is SO wonderful to hear from everyone again, I was really happy to see all the people from 'back in the days' on here!
Tom, Jim is doing fine & says hi - I HOPE it isn't your last trip! I will be sure to read your trip report, they are always informative & interesting.
Sandi, every once in a while we get the urge to cruise as it's SO cheap compared to Africa. We went from Buenos Aires, the Falklands, & then around Cape Horn in a horrific storm & then up to Santiago in 2010. Earned a nice credit because the storm was really bad & then spent the credit towards a Panama Canal Cruise in April. But now it's time to go back to Afreekah, we have missed it.
Patty, Leely, Nyamera, I think of you guys often & was happy to see all of you still on the board. And I can't wait to read your trip report on your recent trip Leely, just Kenya? Or both? Did you see Kennedy?
Marija, the packing list is on the iphone now, great app - but I can dump it into excel anytime & publish it! I will need to hone it up, I have never managed to pack in under 33 lbs!
Sallysaab, let's compare itineraries - hopefully we will bump into each other!
Calo, yes, I do hope we will be there at the same time next year - and we will miss you dearly on Saturday. Visit us soon - you know we have an extra two rooms!
And KathBC - see you Saturday, just printed the poster for you!
It's our fourth annual Afreekah Night GTG on Saturday, I had wanted to post something here, but had a 'family' weeding which took up the last month - remember our 'adopted' second son, Andrew (real son's best friend) that came to take us to the airport for our first Africa trip at 5:00 AM instead of PM in 2006?
Well, I'm happy to report he made it to his wedding even before the bride.

Nice to see you back on the Board, Lynda. Kennedy did several Nairobi day tours and transfers for some of my group back in July. It was great to see him again and I even got to briefly meet Val. Everyone really enjoyed his tours and chatting with him.
He was a lifesaver for me, taking me shopping at the mall after my bag was delayed (took a week to get it.) He also helped several of our people get local cell phones. In the case of one Canadian lady, it was a lifesaver for her. She had a frequent flier on Air Canada and Turkish Airlines. The flights over had to be changed due to bad weather in Newark. She was assured that her return flights were okay, but when she arrived at NBO, Turkish Airlines had no reservation for her return flight. She was on that cell phone to Canada for an hour, but finally got a ticket home.
