I Might be going to Cairo!!
So, I have been having a field day looking at all the possible places in Europe and Africa that I can visit from my central locale of London. It turns out, I can possibly afford going to Cairo! Yay!
But, my flight would not arrive until 1:55 am...Yikes!! Worried....what has been your experiences flying into Cairo at such an hour, and since I am a Woman traveling alone, are there any clothing custom issues I should be aware of?

There is a lot of information on this board regarding clothing...but in general, just dress conservatively. Pants, long skirts, and long-sleeve or to the elbow tops. Do a couple of searches - "clothes in Egypt" or something like that and you should find all the info you need.
As for the early morning arrival..I wouldn't worry about it. Flights in and out of Cairo leave at all times of the night/early morning. My first arrival into Cairo was at 2:30 am and most of the flights out of Cairo were in the middle of the night. After a while - we just got used to it.

I've no specific knowledge of Cairo, but if I was arriving anywhere at that time of night I'd like to know I had a hotel room booked for that night, and that the hotel is fully aware of my arrival time.
So even if you are travelling on a budget, I would suggest that you don't economise for this, but book into a hotel (anyway for that night) with 24-h reception cover. Then at least you will have somewhere to go at 2 in the morning.

Ruth has a good point - you should not be arriving into Cairo without a hotel booked.
If you go with one of the major ones....even for 1 night - they should be able to arrange to have someone meet you at the airport and take you to the hotel. You don't want to have to worry about a taxi at that time by yourself.
I think some hotels can arrange for someone to meet you as you exit the plane to help you with a visa, going through passport control, etc. Otherwise, there is usually a large group of people waiting with signs as you leave the baggage/customs area.
