Humanitarian gifts in South Africa/Swaziland
As I'm planning a January visit to South Africa & Swaziland I would like to bring along items for people in need. Any suggestions of what types of items are most needed (school supplies, toiletries, clothing, ?) and which area/town/organization is in need of help most?

Kay,
my daughter did one month of voluntering work in September 2005 in the area of Durban. She worked with lots of abused and HIV positive kids and women and told me they were in need of all kind of stuff. She told me One organisation in particular did very good work over there . She attended the tree clinic more than once.
Maybe you could contact them?

Hello,
The best way to make sure that you're bringing the right stuff is to make contact with a local organisation (like the one mentioned by Hilde) and get a wish-list -- sometimes the needs aren't obvious to outsiders.
Cheers,
Julian
