How rugged is a Zambia walking safari?

Jump to last reply

Just finished reading Liz's post and I've been considering a walking safari for awhile, especially after just returning from a SA trip and doing 18 game drives and only 3 bush walks!

How long are the walks each day and they are combined with drives too, right? Is there quite a choice regarding types of walking safaris? I don't need super luxury but do want good security(if traveling alone) and my own ensuite bathroom. I'm in good shape but don't want to walk continuously for too many hours due to lower back issues and don't want to sleep in small dome tents. Any information is welcome and the trip reports on Zambia sound amazing but am just still not convinced it may be the right trip for me. All I know is, I can't do 18 drives again without a lot of walking in-between!
