Any recommendations for hotels in these cities. Preferably under $250 per room per night. Also any recommended specific areas to stay in these cities? I am researching for an early June trip. We are a family of 4, so will need 2 rooms. Kids are adults (20&22) so they will need their own room.

I don't need anything fancy, but want clean, quiet, comfortable and good location are very important. From what I see on Tripadvisor, the Atlas hotel chain seems to have some nice places in Tel Aviv (Melody, Art, Cinema). Any thoughts on these?

I was told to stay near the 'promenade' in TIberias, although, I'm not quite sure where the 'promenade' is.

In Tiberias the promenade is a walkway along the lake with shops and restaurants. We stayed at the Berger Hotel which was not close to the lake (but we had a car) and very inexpensive. Many would not like it (it's very basic)but it was OK for us. I liked the look and location of the Leonardo Plaza which was on the lake and promenade. It would probably be good for your family. We ate dinner one night at Deck's and it was very good. Expensive, but one of our best meals in Israel. It's on the lake.

If budget is a serious concern and you will have a rental car when you are in the north, then you should consider one of two youth hostels - the hostels are really motels, private rooms, private baths, clean comfortable and affordable.

The two to consider are Karei Deshe and Poriya. The Poriya hostel will have just completed a major renovation project - they have been closed since Nov. 1 and will be closed until May.

we went to Israel in July '08 and found a really nice place in Tel Aviv . . . the Olympia Hotel.

We had room 308, a small-but-not-tiny, pretty room, key-card access, twin beds, dresser, TV, great a/c, big bathroom with tub/shower. We were a little worried about this hotel, only found one review (positive) and the travel agent who booked it tried to get us to book another one. This is a very nice hotel . . . looks kinda like a Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn, nice breakfast included, free parking underneath the hotel if you have a car, right across the street from the Sheraton Moriah and the Basel and near a bunch of embassies (American, Russian, French) . . . just across from the beach . . . about two blocks away from a bunch of auto rental places . . . one block over from Ben Yehuda St, and two blocks over from Dizengoff Street. Ben Gurion's home is right around the corner. The only thing I didn’t like about the hotel is that there was no bar.

The Ron Beach Hotel in Tiberias is rated #2 on TA. Anyone familiar with it?

Hi, I travel to Tel Aviv quite often and I stayed in all those hotels including the Melody, Art, Cinema. Out of the those three I recommend the Melody hotel because of the beach location especially in June, its a good place to be. Most recently, I booked a vacation apartment right by the melody it cost me about $190 for a 2-bedroom. the website i found was www.Tlvapt.com and you can see there apartment selection.

I've stayed at the Melody three times and have enjoyed it very much. The rooms are not the largest but are modern and very clean. there is a small bkfst area in the lobby with good food. They also have a snack time with refreshments and snacks at about 4pm. Nice rooftop lounge area too. It is very near the beach and the Old Pier Area with its many restaurants. There are many restaurants nearby for dinner, though we usuall eat either at the Old Pier area or a pizza place very close by. It's part of the Atlas chain and can be found online.

When in tiberius try to have dinner at the "Deck". Get a table on the Sea of Galilee and enjoy the view and dinner. It's a kosher bar b que restaurant with really great fish or beef. It was one of the best meals we had in Israel. The hotel we stayed at has changed names so I can't help you, though it was close to both the Decks and Pagoda restaurants.
