For any of you who haven't seen it yet or those interested in watching it again, Hotel Rwanda is on Showtime tonight @ 9pm eastern time.
I'm sure they will be showing it again.

It's a great movie!

hi,how are you. i saw this movie some time ago-really good.they even show some of the real stuff on the tv that is being watched in the movie. glad they didnt show too much of that. what people do to each other huh, pretty sick. but this has been going on forever. man hasnt changed since walking upright and talking.

There's a superb documentary available about the subject, <i>Ghosts of Rwanda</i>. It was originally shown as part of the PBS &quot;Frontline&quot; series, and it's now available on DVD.

Abd much better than Hotel Rwanda is Sometimes In April, which was originally on HBO.

This time you see what actually went on outside the Mille Collines

Sometimes in April, so stark and heart wrenching. The Rwanda trials already taking places, family conflicts and flashbacks as to what happened to individuals outside the Milles Collines.

Hotel Rwanda told the story that many didn't know and certainly had the star power, but Sometimes in April had even more impact for me.

Both are a must see.

I had the pleasure of seeing Paul speak at the National Press Club in Washngton DC at a Darfur fund raising event. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when the movie clips were played and after he spoke.

My wife and I are planning a trip this December-January that includes a gorilla trekking expedition with Volcanoes in Rwanda, and we'll be staying at the Milles Collines at the beginning and end of that portion of the trip. So I definitely would like to see both &quot;Hotel Rwanda&quot; and &quot;Ghosts of Rwanda.&quot; I saw &quot;Sometimes in April&quot; last week and thought it was excellent. Even down to little details like the picture of French President Mitterand on the back of the &quot;Hutu Ten Commandments.&quot;

Also, I have become aware of some controversy about &quot;Hotel Rwanda&quot; in Rwanda, with the government and other people arguing that Paul Rusesabagina was not really the hero that the movie portrays him as. Hit this link for an example:

Most Rwandans don't seem to care for him.
My driver in Rwanda is a Tutsi, who lost a lot of his family and was in Kigali at the time, think that Mr. Rusesabagina greatly inflates his role in what he did.

One of the strong rumors is that Paul went to the militia meetings and new quite well what was going to happen.

Probably like Oscar Schindler, he is a complex man.

I took a look at the list of topics and broke into tears. When time allows and I compose myself, will venture into the details - maybe.

Who know how anyone would respond in situations of such horrors. We can only hope to do the right thing, but there is always the survival instinct. It's way too complicated wherever or whenever these atrocities occur.

But &quot;he who saves one life, saves the world&quot; - regardless how!

I agree with you. It is easy to judge afterwards with tons of hindsight. But I couldn't imagine being trapped on those grounds, trying to protect your family and figure out what to do.

I thought the film showed a man very reluctant to get involved, trying with all his might to offend no one and just keep his family safe. Circumstances forced him to make choices that helped save some people from death. I didn't think he was portrayed as a great hero, and for me, that's what made the movie.
