Hotel near Casablanca Airport

Hello again,

My wife and I are flying into the Casablanca aiport on our way to Guinnea. We will be arriving in the morning at 6:40am on a Sunday and don't depart until 1:40am the next morning. We would like to find a hotel where we could get some sleep...maybe take a shower and get a nice meal before we head back to the airport. Prefer not to spend almost 24 hours sitting in the airport.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Piperpilot

Royal Air Maroc opens its Atlas Hotel Nouasseur at Casablanca airport this July.

Until that time, the closest hotels are in the square in front of Casablanca Voyageurs train station. You can take the train from the airport to Voyageurs, it takes about 30 minutes.

The Ibis Moussafir hotel is a 3-star at around US$40, the Terminus hotel has zero stars but costs only US$8.

Well since we are going to be there June 4th, I guess the new hotel is out. I checked out some info on Ibis Moussafir, looks like that will work for us. Are there any decent restuarants nearby that one would recommend. The day spent there is actually our 1st wedding anniversary so something nice would be good. Since our flight is at 1:40 am, what time should we leave that area for the airport. I assume we would need a taxi since the trains don't run at that time?

Thanks

Check with your airline how long before departure you need to check in for the flight at 1.40.

There are no trains to the airport after 10PM. A taxi at that time of day costs 250 dirham, a fixed price. Don't pay more. Allow 30 minutes for the drive, 45 to be on the safe side.

There's a very nice kinda-authentic restaurant called Al Mounia in Rue Prince Moulay Abdallah, about 15 minutes by taxi from the Ibis.

Also nice are some of the restaurants in the Anfa district, 30 to 40 minutes by taxi from the Ibis. Do a Google for Villa Zevaco and Trica.

One more thing: Ask hotel reception to arrange for a taxi to pick you up (at around midnight, I guess?).

You have to get a grand taxi to the airport, city cabs are not allowed to go there. It's hard to find a grand taxi in the streets at night.

Knowing the Ibis staff a little, you may want to wait until they have actually spoken to the taxi dispatcher and you have heard the reservation confirmed.

Anyone know how to contact the new hotel by the airport??? Air Morocco didn't know anything about it when I called. We booked at the Hyatt in Casa since we too are coming in late, but would rather stay near the airport.

The hotel is being built by Royal Air Maroc's Atlas Hospitality group.

You'll find a contact form on their website:

Well my wife called the Ibis this morning to arrange a room for our Layover day in Casablanca. From what she understood, they are booked up. What other options are available? I guess we could try the Terminus hotel as we only really need a place to relax...how bad is it?

Thanks for the info.

The Terminus isn't *that* bad! It's just a very basic hotel that has seen better days. But for just the night, it's fine.

Of course, there's a Sheraton at less than ten minutes by taxi from the train station
