Hotel in Medina and Drive from Cassablanca to Marrakesh
We are two couples looking for two rooms in a Hotel or Riad near Djemaa el Fna in Medina. We want something nice and clean for around 50-100US dollars arriving April 30 and staying for 3 or 4 nights. We are flying into Cassablanca and renting a car and driving to Marrakesh. How long a drive is this and is traveling this route recomended? You can email me directly or a post will do. Your help will be much appreciated.

hi, i think our budget was less than yours but if you are willing to go downscale a bit we liked both the Hotel Gallia (under $30 with breakfast) and the Hotel Sherezade. (rooms from about $30-45) Both very near square, pretty tiled hotels with private baths, clean.

The drive from casa to marrakech is supposed to take about 2-3 hours and supposedly easy. but are you sure you want to drive? you won't need a car in marrakech, and if you want to get one to drive into the atlas or the desert or the beach you can get one in marrakech. we rented a car to go to essaouira and i don't think we would have wanted one in marrakech. also parking in the medina is kind of hard. a round trip on air maroc is about $90 per person; or you could take a grand taxi _ with four you could rent the whole thing for just yourselves, don't let the driver try to stuff more people in. that would probably be cheapest route...

The drive from Casablanca (airport) to Marrakesh lasts for about three hours. The road is a large one but traffic can be heavy and Moroccan drivers are not always careful (being French, I think I know what I am talking about...). We did it last year and everything went OK, but again this is not an easy thing to do.
Finding a connecting flight from Casablanca to Marrakesh could well be the easiest solution.
