Hotel and other Suggestions for Dubai. . .

My husband and I will be in UAE first 8 days of December. We plan to spend 2-3 nights in Dubai, 3 nights in Oman (Muscat), then return to Dubai before departure. We need hotel suggestions for Dubai and Oman. . .our thoughts are to spend time on the beach, visit markets, tour the Burj before heading to Oman.

We need suggestions in general for how to maneuver on this trip as well as other thoughts on things we should see/do. Thanks in advance!

Dubai: we really like Jumeirah Beach Residence (aka JBR) area. Dubai is a long and 'thin' city and very spread out but a taxi takes you everywhere for very little money. Easier and just as cheap as riding the metro. Burj Khalifa (Downtown Dubai) is about a 20/25 min. ride (longer on rush hour), the souks (Deira) about a 35 min. ride.
Some hotels on JBR have private beaches but there are also public beaches with and without facilities, and fancy/exclusive beach clubs.
We stayed at J.A. Ocean View last year. Excellent in every way. We will stay there again in February of next year.
Lots of restaurants on The Walk and in the new Marina Mall and along the new boardwalk. And December is a perfect month for dining 'al fresco'.

A very good hotel at the airport (2 min. with their free shuttle) is the Millennium Dubai Airport.

Muscat: we loved the Shangri-La but, again, pretty far away from Muttrah (souks, Corniche) and from Sultan Qaboos Mosque. Although they have a shuttle that goes as far as Muttrah.
All depends on what you want to do/see in Muscat. The city isn't the most interesting place in Oman, IMO. Our aim was just to relax at the pool/beach prior to our 2 week tour in Oman.

From Dubai you can easily get to Muscat with Oman Air or Fly Dubai (prices are about the same).

Thank you, MyriamC! I have looked at JA and also JBR. With only 4 nights in Oman, do you have suggestions? We were thinking just to hang at the beach, but are open...

We will spend 2 nights Dubai, 4 nights Oman, 2 nights Dubai.

4 nights in Oman is a short time. It's a pretty big country! Are you interested in some dune bashing and spending a night in the Wahiba Sands Desert (my favourite of last year)? Or make a dhow cruise with dolphin spotting in Musandam (northern Oman).
If you just want the perfect beach holiday, fly to Salalah (Dhofar province, south of Oman). Much, much nicer than the Muscat beaches. That's what we will do in February (5 nights Dubai, 8 nights Salalah, 1 night Dubai before heading back home to Belgium).

Dubai is very beautiful city... you can search online the best hotel on your budget. You can also use online discount coupons for hotel and get discount on online booking.
