Has anyone on this forum been to both the Hoggar Mountains in Algeria and the Egyptian Sahara? I'm interested in a trip to North Africa and am trying to determine if the Hoggar Mountains are worth the effort to get to, or if I can get a similar experience going to the desert in Egypt.
I have not found many posts on the board about Algeria, so any info would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone
Nope, I'm no help either! But I was attracted to your question because of the Hoggar Mountains reference. I had never heard of then until I read "The Fearful Void" about a man traveling through this area more or less (less) solo and if you can find it (out of print, of course) you might enjoy it.
Thanks Pula.
It seems that Algeria in general is not on most peoples travel list. I've found a few articles on the Hoggar, this one being the most recent:
http://www.boston.com/travel/getaways/africa/articles/2009/02/15/desert_rules/?page=full
I contacted the writer of that article and he gave that area a nice endorsement and really recommended I go.
