Help with Selecting Hotel/Location For Honeymoon Mozambique
Hi,
We will be going on our honeymoon to South AFrica finishing in Kruger Park and then ending with 4-5 nights in Mozambique before heading to Johannesburg to go back to the USA.
Any suggestions/opinons on the best place to go and most convenient with that itinerary? We will be there at the beginning of June. We really just want a nice resort to relax in the sun and maybe some activity and exploring to do. Also wanted to know thoughts on spending a night in Maputo just to see it and walk around as well.
Thanks so much!

acnap88,
Why not go for the best? Vamizi Island Lodge is pure paradise, check it out. It is pricey, but ohhhh.... you will have lasting memories. Go, enjoy and come back to tell us all about it....

for southern Mozambique Azura was i think the best property but it burnt down late last year, so i would choose between http://www.benguerra.co.za/ which is amazing or http://www.marlinlodge.co.za/ which is slightly cheaper. There are other cheaper alternatives like bazaruto lodge and Indigo but if you afford it head to either Benguerra or Marlin

yes, Vamizi is a great option but it is up in Northern Moz (along with Quilalea). Much more remote and more of a "desert island" feel.
But it is more costly to get to than the islands in Southern Mozambique
what sort of budget did you have for the beach section

Hi thanks all for your responses. I think we have narrowed it down to Indigo Bay, Bazaruto Lodge and Marlin. Any thoughts on what would be the best?
Marlin is by far the cheapest as they are running some specials. I am worried we might get a bit bored. We don't mind the hotel like feeling which is why I am thinking of Indigo as it seems to have the most activities.
But I want to make sure its worth the money.
Any idea how much these places charge for the transfers?

Hi - It is about $160 return for an air transfer from Vilanculos to one of the islands. Indigo is on Bazaruto Island and Marlin is on Benguerra Island. I don't think you will get bored at either with 4-5 nights.

You should sooo go to Nyati Beach Lodge. We just came back from the most amazing vacation there. Check out:
http://www.nyati-beach-mozambique.co.za/
We took advantage of their summer offer where we could stay for just 125$/night with everything included - even the helicopter transfer from Vilanculos Airport! It was a true paradise out there with 10 kilometres of private beach - just perfect for a honeymoon and the food was just fantastic.
