Has anyone traveled on the Nile Dahabiya?
Dear fodorites- checking to see if anyone has traveled on the Nile Dahabiya from Edfu to Aswan or vice versa. We're a group of 3 looking for a non-touristy way to cruise down the Nile. We found the Nile Dahabiya http://www.nile-dahabiya.com
Following is the itinerary they provide?
Aswan to Esna:
Day 1 – Boarding in Esna – El Kab – Quessia
Day 2 – Edfu – Wadi el Shat
Day 3 – Gebel el Silsila – Kom Ombo – Maniha
Day 4 – Daraw – El Koubania, Aswan
Day 5 – Disembarkation in Aswan
Few things that attract us to this boat:
Fresh, local produce used to cook meals every day
English speaking guide
Small boat which creates an intimate setting
3nights/4 days which fits well into our 2 week stay
Questions that keep me awake at night:
is the boat clean? are the toilets clean and functioning?
what's the overall quality of the boat?
We want to see Luxor and Abu-Simbel as well- should we take the cruise from Aswan to Esna or from Esna to Aswan?
Your thoughts and feedback are greatly appreciated! Many thanks in advance

A Dahabiya is a type of boat, not a specific boat. I just mention that because your question, such as it is worded, "the Nile Dahabiya", sounds as if you thought it was one boat.
I have never cruised on one, but here is a web site link that will take you to a family site that did use a Dahabiya and they have several photos and talk about their experience.
www.frf.com From the front page, go to their Egypt trip and then the Nile Cruise.

Thanks TC and Debbie! I have made reservations on the NourElNil. Is it typical for dahabiyas to ask for the entire amount upfront?
Many thanks for all your suggestions! We are very excited about our experience on the Dahabiya
