I like the coffee table books by Zanzibar photographer Javed Jafferji. His books of safari camps in Tanzania and Kenya are beautiful to look at, and each of this books has a companion book with the best recipes from those camps, also lavishly illustrated.

For CC Africa fans we have "The Kitchen Safari" with recipes from all CCA camps, www.ccafrica.com/safarishop/.
And of course we have Dereck & Beverly Joubert's book about Mombo's chef Craig Higgins, "Elephant in the Kitchen",
www.wildlifeconservationfilms.com/books.html.
(some people won't believe it but nyama has a signed copy of this)
So I believe there is a great selection for Hari to choose from...

That's certainly an award winner!!! and they have chocolate drizzle too ..... see i have been jumping up and down about the CCS!!!
John: i also recall the award winning photographer return from his visit to the Selinda concession talking very highly about the new Snorkelling activity on tap at Motswiri.
What a nice piece of art though, chocolate drizzle amidst strawberries in a yellow sauce.

Hari,
If you're talking about Adrian.
The snorkelling was part of a canoe trip on the western spillway that Adrian & his wife Robyn did with Grant and his wife Sharon.
I here the water was bloody freezing. No wonder there is only one hippo down there.
Geoff.

Given the fairly serious and unpleasant discussions currently occurring at the moment on this board and the part that Julian plays in them, is this kind of thread really appropriate?
It strikes me as juvenile in the extreme to partake in this kind of childish mocking and nastiness.
I'm sure it's meant to be funny and amusing but... I'm seriously surprised at some of you that are taking part.

So they are gooseberries!
I was going to guess gooseberries. Really I was! But in my part of the world, they are smaller and we don't eat them until they turn purplish. The green ones are unripe.
I felt it really would be nasty and mocking to accuse any fine establishment of pushing gooseberries before their time on the guests. So I went with kumkwat instead.
Thank you for the correction, Jweis!

Shumba, not that I can claim I don't fall into the same trap myself sometimes, but just because one person does something wrong (i.e. mocking spa girl) does that mean we should all do the same?
This is not a pleasant time and I genuinely think the best thing to pull us up out of it would be to concentrate on what this board is all about - genuine discussion of African trips, experiences, wishlists etc.

what i can clearly see from the image though is its artisitc nature. The lack of sharpness and blur is the quick movement of the tray as it is brought by your personal valet to the table in between a fine vintage from one of south Africa's finest wine makers.........................

Wow, that goes right on past chocolate covered strawberries and keeps on going. Hilarious!
Jess: chocolate covered strawberries (now known as CCS) has become part of the Fodors vernacular encompassing unbelievable over the top luxury and the growing trend of lodges catering more for the in camp comfort than the wild experience.

Kavey: What do you suggest, we just turn a blind eye and just move on .... and the situation just "continue".
The more and more i hear the term "exclusivity" and safari ..... the more and more i start to disrespect it, as obviously the more exclusive it gets, the dirtier the game. This whole episode really is an eye-opener and turning away from it is ridiculous!!!
Hope the Operators/safari lodges realize what's going on ..... this situation is just ridiculous!!!
