Got Recommendations for Where to Stay in Zanzibar?

Can anyone offer suggestions on a good place to stay on Zanzibar for a medium price? $50 - $100 per night? There is a group of us (13) traveling together, we are looking for a place on the beach. We'll have three teens with us.

Many thanks for your advice! ~Pathfinder.

Check out the site below:

They provide a listing of many hotels on the island, with reviews and approximate prices. Most hotels are located on the Southeast or Northeast coasts, as well the Northern tip.

If you are looking for $50-100/person/night I would highly recommend Pongwe Beach! We've stayed there this February and thought it was heaven on Earth for a very fair price! Please, report on your Znz trip! It's now my favorite spot in the world!

We stayed at the Sunrise Hotel, about 1 or 2 km north of Bwejuu. Very low-key. Pool, no a/c. Nice staff, nice owner, good (sorta French-influenced) food.

I've also stayed at Pongwe and enjoyed it. There aren't activites for teens, but I know there are other resorts just up the beach that had a more lively atmosphere (easy walking distance along the beach.) The food is excellent, as well.

Another option might be a private villa rental. I have not yet been to Zanzibar, but have the following place bookmarked as a beautiful place to stay. The have two villas that would sleep a combined group of up to 16.

It is also on the i-escape.com website.
