I booked my flights to Iran for next weekend. Short 5 day trip. I cancelled my trip that was planned for the end of June due to the events there. My visa is still good until August 10th, so I thought I would try it again. The guide there told me that they will let me into the country even with a visa that was issued prior to the elections.
We'll see.

Wow -- I will be anxiously and eagerly awaiting your report!
Good luck! I'm also eager to see your TR. I was hoping to go this fall, but I was waiting until after the election to apply for a visa, and now I'm going to the ME instead - I'm not sure whether my UK or US passport would be least likely to be welcome!
It really seems like the country is still very much in the process of change (not sure it is for the better)...with so little information coming out and free press at a standstill it really seems like it may be very difficult to see what a tourist goes to see...look forward to your report!
I have no clue what to expect given the situation right now. Since they are no longer accepting visa applications for US, UK and Canadian citizens, I'm anxious about what kind of "welcome" I'll be receiving there when I arrive next sunday. According to my agent there, as long as I have the contact information of my travel agent ("minder") there in Iran and a valid visa I shouldn't have any problems at immigration. We'll see.
Yes, it will be a far different atmosphere to visit Iran in now as opposed to pre-election times. I anticipate keeping a low profile and trying to enjoy as much of it as possible.
nimbus - best wishes for your trip - looking forward to reading about it.
Nimbus...(im)patiently waiting to hear how your trip went! I'm itching for details!
Also waiting - are you back?
