GCT-Egypt cruise on "Anuket"
We will be taking the GCT Egypt & Nile Cruise in November '04 aboard the Anuket & need info. (I READ THE NEGATIVE STUFF). Specifically, does the ship have internet access or the ability to burn a CD? I'd like to copy photo files so I can erase and reuse my memory card.

I don't know of any Nile river ships that have internet access. There are various internet cafes around Cairo, but I don't know about being able to burn CDs.
Many of the better photo shops can transfer your memory card photos to CD, but - personally - I would just invest in some extra memory cards. Expensive - yes - but better than running out of space on such a great trip. Note - I have not found any memory cards in Cairo, so buy before you come.

In Nov. 03 we had internet access on GCT's Anuket, but only while in port, and not at a high-speed. I only saw one computer and no facilities to burn CD's. The Cairo Marriott had at least 6 computers for internet access. They might have capabilities to burn CD's. You could email them and ask. I would definitely bring the extra memory cards, in the long run it would probably be less expensive and less hassle. (Forget the negative stuff. I'm pretty picky and I would go on the Anuket again. Of course I'd be sure to avoid that whole Dec 1st Lock thing.) The weather is great in Nov.
Have fun.

Just returned a couple days ago from Grand Circle's Egypt tour which included a week on the Anuket. They have two computers available for guest use and I found them to be extremely slow. But they worked okay, only difficulty I had was my password has some numbers in it and was unsuccessful in using the numeric pad. When I opted for the numbers on the keyboard itself it worked fine.
