Gay travellers in Dubai.

I am thinking of going, with my partner, to Dubai, to stay in a posh, internationally-run hotel.
I do not want to be made to feel uncomfortable on checking in. Similarly, though not to the same extent, I don't wish to make the staff at the hotel feel uncomfortable when a double bed is requested.
Do any other gay travellers, male or female, have any experience of this?
I appreciate that some would say just go ahead and, if you're paying, demand that double bed, but I am on holiday after all, and I do not want to have to turn my rest period into a political statement. I would prefer not to go somewhere that makes me feel uneasy and angsty, so if anyone out there wants to criticise me for not standing up for myself, please respect my all-round 'normalness' in not wanting any hassle on holiday.

Thanks
