Fly close to Zagora/MHamid?

I will be in Morocco in Dec/Jan, starting in Marrakech. We would like to go to the desert near Zagora or MHamid, but would like to cut down the driving time if possible. Does anyone know if you can fly to a city or town close-ish to Zagora/MHamid? Thanks.

We just did the camel safari in M'Hamid and then flew home out of Ouarzazate. It took about 4 hours (with stops) to drive from M'Hamid to Ouarzazate. The flight from Ouarzazate to Casa Blanca is only 40 mins (beats driving 4 more hours).

Thanks! Could you tell me who you booked the tour through, how many days it was and what it consisted of?

We have traveled a lot in Morocoo through Blue Men of Morocco. And have recommended their services to many folks. Believe their website is www.bluemenofmorocco.com.
The owners are an American and a Berber from Merzouga. They also have a little hotel in Merzouga. So you can book short tours to the desert or tours throughout Morocco.

I believe the flights out of Ouarzazate are through Royal Air Maroc and leave at 6 am in the morning.

On SUNDAYS, there is a flight from Erracahia to Casablanca about 9 pm. This place is about two hours from Merzouga area and is going to be more popular with tourists going to the desert. Check out the Royal Air MAroc website.

The largest dunes are the Erg Chebbie range with Merzouga and Hassi Lybed being small villages along the dunes.
