Hello. I am going to Marrakech with my husband in March. He is Marrakechi born and although we are extremely familiar with Marrakech I have only been to Fes for a few days and he has never been at all. We plan to take a day or two to go and see Fes and relax. Does anyone know of a good riad or hotel that would be nice - we don't really want something in the old medina, although it's a possibility I guess. Obviously language is not an issue for us. Any suggestions would be great!

Riads, the real ones, can only be found in the old medina. That's what a Riad (or Dar) is, a traditional house. If you don't want to stay in the medina, then you have a selection of hotels in the new town that you can look up on the website www.tripadvisor.com
Ok so we don't want to stay in a hotel really, but perhaps an apartment. A nice riad in the old medina would be ok. Any suggestions there?
We stayed in the Riad Fes and it was in the medina so convenient to touring. The Riad Fes is beautiful - very romantic with incredible breakfasts and a lovely bar/restaurant area. Their is a pretty rooftop area where you can see the whole city and relax away from the hustle and bustle.
