experiences with African travel Resource
Hello all,
We are considering traveling with African travel Resource to Zambia.
Does anyone have recent experience with this travel agent? Could only find some info on this forum, dating from 2006.
All info is much appreciated !
Kind regards,

No help directly, sorry.
But we hear about ATR often here so I did advanced search on "ATR" and it came back with lots in 2011 and some in 2012. For example - http://tinyurl.com/7um26eb

My personal opinion; they push towards high-end camps too much.
Just look at the scores they give in any particular area; by coincidence the most expensive camps get a 8, 9 or 10. Less luxurious and less expensive camps only get to 7 or sometimes 8. Even though game viewing is idem (as it's in the same park) and even though there's no difference in guiding (they may rave about fantastic guiding in a non-luxe camp, but it will still only get a 7 or 8).
Any camp they did not visit yet gets a zero, which is a bit weird as well.
Their website is great though, if you know how to work it. But interfaces too small to be useable on a tablet PC (sorry, IT guy speaking here).
Can't comment on their services. Have never used them.
Ciao,
J.

We recently (Sept. 2015) did an extensive trip in Tanzania booked through ATR. I can't recommend them highly enough. We wanted something a little out of the ordinary, and they did a great job of finding lodges and guides that fit our interests. Everything worked perfectly, and the lodges were exactly as they described, including the "real Africa" parts that some people might want to avoid (those were the parts we enjoyed the most).
I was particularly impressed with the fact that they didn't upsell any of the places. We were given a wide set of options on price and luxury, and they were very candid about the places they represent. I have recommended them to everyone I know who is interested in an African safari.
