Dear travelers, as far as Egypt is concerned, I feel lost...
1. Is Egypt too hot in JULY for a visit ?
2. Me and organized tours are foreigners; however, in Egypt I'll not do it otherwise!
The organized tours that I found use expensive hotels and therefore, are very expensive.
Most of the days are spent touring; I don't need a fancy hotel.
a) Do you know of inexpensive / less expensive 4-5 days trips to Egypt,
originating in Israel (preferably in Tel-Aviv)?
b) Are 4 days (2 net touring days) enough to see the top priorities? Which of the following and anything else that you suggest, is a "Don't Miss", and in which order of priority?
Cairo: bazaar, the museums, pyramids and sphinx, Sakkara, Colossus of Ramses, Alabaster Sphinx, and the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Luxor.... - different tours vary.
THANKS A LOT!

Tuli. I can just tell you what I am doing. I am from Australia and deluxe tours for my husband and myself to Egypt were so expensive. However, from this site I found out about Lady Egypt tours and I have booked through them. We are spending nearly 4 weeks in Jordan and Egypt for half the price of the Aussie tour company, and we get 5 star hotels, private guide and driver and lots of inclusions. If you do the private tour, you can see exactly what you want, vary the tour day by day if need be. Perhaps search for other posts on here about Lady Egypt.
I not yet travelled with them, I am going in Sept, but lots on here have already and attest to them being wonderful.
Lady Egypt gets mentioned positively here very often. But personally, I wouldn't go anywhere near the Middle East in summer. Think 'Death Valley'. I am always amazed people can do it then.
Check this website out http://www.weatherbase.com/ It may help you decide what is best for you.
If you only want 2/days of touring, you can wait till you arrive Cairo and arrange most of the sightseeing thru your hotel's Tour Desk. Or contact a regular poster here: Debbie at dds71@aol.com of Casual_Cairo Detours. Maybe even Lady Egypt, a Cairo-based operator who can arrange for a guide/driver for these few days.
Luxor would entail either an overnight train or flight and can be costly for just 1/day.
Again, expect July to be hot! hot! hot!
... and yes, Death Valley describes it quite well.
Then, if at TLV, you'd have to figure out transport to/from. Believe there are flights between TLV/CAI/TLV.
tinydancer:
Your "Death Valley" analogy for an area the size of the Middle East is somewhat exxaggerated. Tel-Aviv, for example, has constant 30C (86F) all summer long with reasonable humidity (lower than the American east coast). Jerusalem has similar temperatures but is much dryer. Hot - yes, but bearable, considering that airconditioning is found everywhere and the beach is nearby.
I actually meant to say something like this about T.A., but forgot, so thanks!
mbgg - believe tinydancer and I for sure were referring to Egypt as "Middle East" which is when OP plans to travel, not Israel. Upper Egypt, as Luxor/Aswan/Abu Simbel, are very much like Death Valley, 120-130-degrees in the shade (if you could find the one lone tree
). And Cairo is unbearable due to all the buildings, vehicle fumes, crowds, etc.
However, when we visited Israel, wherever we were it was hot! hot! hot! JER a bit cooler at night. But summer is summer and everyone's body reacts differently to heat.
