EGYPT ITINERARY HELP!!

There is plenty of information in this forum related to Egypt that is why I feel sometimes rather confused. We are planning (husband and two boys) going Mid January (two weeks minimun). We want to visit the most important sites without being in a hurry. We would rather fly instead of travelling by train. How many days in each place? Egypt operator?? I am also concerned about security. Thanks for your suggestions.

We used Viking Travel a few years back and would highly recommend them. Find them on Google. Last year they put together a package for our friends and it worked out perfectly. Fly to Cairo. 2 nights, maybe 3 max. Fly to Luxor for maybe 3 nights. There is lots to do and see in Luxor. Boat cruise to Aswan. 2 nights in Aswan. Fly to Abu Simbel. ( do this if at all possible as it is really a highlight ) Boat cruise back to Aswan. In Aswan we stayed at the Old Cataract Hotel and thought their terrace bar to be worth the trip. It's in a very exotic location overlooking the Nile. While you are in Aswan be sure to take a felucca ride to a Nubian village - Your kids will love it. Aswan is a really cool town. As to security, unless you are going to the beaches in Sinai you likely have nothing to worry about. Egypt is a fascinating country and the people are about as kind and friendly as you'll find anywhere. They also really value tourism. You'll have a great trip !

Galiano: Thank a lot for your advice. Is January a good month to go on the beach?

we used egypthighlights.com, which others have used, and I highly recommend them. They are Egypt based, so they are familiar with the local guides, customs, drivers, etc. They can either give you a standard vacation or you can do like we did, and plan your own. We crammed everything in in two weeks, and had no problems seeing it all, and also had a few other days in Jordan seeing Petra and northern Jordan. It really depends on what you want to see, for how long you want to be there...

hi
we got in from egypt last week of may and were there for 10 days. 3 weeks is ample time in egypt. it can be very relaxed. cairo you can do in detail in 3 days. there are good english speaking tour guides to help you. we went on the net and got ours and were extremely happy with them always so eager to please. you too can contact them at [email protected] .waleed is his name.
hurghada is a must. the beach there is awesome. the color of the sea...we stayed at safir hotel at hurghada and we really enjoyed the time at the sea./ beach. all water activities like snorkelling and scuba diving can be done at hurghada. 4 to 5 days is ideal here. shopping wise too we realised that though place has mainly tourists, the quality of stuff is far better here than the rest.
then is the nile cruise. that is an experience to be felt. take a 5 star cruise from aswan or luxor and do the sightseeing on cruise. abu simbel and alexandria too can be done.
enjoy egypt.

We used Tut Egypt Tours, http://www.tutegypt.com, a Egyptian company, and they were wonderful. They mainly do custom tours so you might write and tell them what you want.
