Dubai for 4 days (with infant)
Hi!
We'll be in Dubai starting tomorrow until Wednesday so we have almost 4 days on ground. This is mostly an unplanned trip since we could not get connecting flights. We will have our 8 month old infant with us and staying at the Sheraton Jumeriah.
My wife can spend a couple of days with her friend and they plan to go shopping. Can someone please make recommendations for things to do?
- I enjoy history and cultural stuff than shiny new malls.
- Is there something we can do with the kid as well?
Also, how do taxi's work? Since we're staying at the Sheraton should be expect to pay more? Is there a way to mitigate paying more? Any other tips for Dubai?
Thanks!

Haven't checked recently, but recall that the official Emirates web site had lots of info re hotels/rates, where located, sightseeing and things to do (all ages), etc. I'd do a search for this.
As to taxis, I remember that these are metered, so shouldn't cost more or less if you get at your hotel, along the street or from taxi stands.

Am sure the Sheraton Jumeiah can provide you with a babysitter, or ask the locally-based friend if she'd be able to rustle up one! You dont want to drag an baby in and out of the heat of the city and the chilly air conditioning of the malls.

Thank you all for the tips. We had a great trip. The first two days we were exhausted but eventually managed the following:
- Mall of Emirates
- Deira
- Bastakiya
- Ibn Batuta ( We even shopped!)
- Dubai mall (to see the fountain).
Missed out on:
- Dune bashing
- Going up Burj Khalifa.
- Visits to some historic places around the country.
Still a great visit and left a few things to do next time! Thank you for your suggestions!
