Dubai desert tour

Was planning a day-long desert tour during a Dubai stopover. Now my travel agent says that isn't available and is recommending instead a morning city tour then evening desert tour - at a much higher cost. I really would prefer a day desert tour - have local friends taking me out around the city the next day so don't need to pay for a city tour. Can anyone recommend a good daytime desert tour?

Your travel agent is wrong.

For a half day desert tour, have a look at
https://www.arabian-adventures.com/e...04&curPageid=3

You can also Google the numerous options for a day-trip to Hatta Mountain from Dubai - VIP deals have good prices at the moment.

When you do go on one of these trips, make sure that you have your passport with you. If you cannot show proof of identity they will refuse to take you.

I work for a US airline and was stuck in Dubai last week for 6 days. I had gone on one of the "desert safaris" about 6 years ago but told my girlfriend that I would go with her again this past week.
It was booked through the hotel and has really gotten cheesier since I last went if that is possible?Tons of tour bus folks (lots of Chinese and Russian tourists). We never had to show our passports and we were given the choice of paying either in cash or with a credit card.
If you go on the internet, you will see many different options for day and or night tours with various companies.

your travel agent is definitely wrong.

almost all the desert safari companies offer a day time safari option. while a day time desert safari is always available, u need to bear in mind that in the day time safari you would have to skip out on the camp and hence the food, the belly dancing show and the various other campsite attractions and shows become unavailable.

if u intend doing a day-long safari as mentioned in your op, then pls do consider the weather situation depending on the month of your intended trip.

u wont need a passport for the regular day or night safaris. but if you chose the Hatta mountain one as suggested by kovsie, then yes you would need to carry your passport for the checkpost.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. My brother went on an evening trip and similarly found it all a bit cheesy hence my concern. Arabian Adventures is the company my agent deals with and on looking at their website it seems they run a day tour most days but not Fridays - however on the recommendation of a local expat/friend who said that company's evening tour was 'fun' - I've now booked with them, and can spend the morning exploring the city and beach and walking off jet lag. Cheesy or not, it will be interesting to see it all.

i certainly agree with your friend that the evening desert safaris are "fun" to say the least. you've booked yourself with the best desert safari company so am sure you will have a great time. carry a good camera and try to ride shotgun with the driver to get the best dune bashing experience.

At the camp you would have the ususal belly dancing, tanoura (sufi) dancing, henna, shisha, food, drinks, rides etc. all a very traditional arabic experience.

enjoy....

There are several Desert trip available in Dubai from Morning to late night trip.

Check this one http://www.visitdubaishoppingfestiva...-safari-dubai/ that is available for morning trip. You should esquire via mail in written about specific trip for proof purpose.

You can also go for night stay safari trip and enjoy the belly dance and delicious food.

Enjoy the Dubai tour
