Drive Pt Eliabeth-Upington in S Africa-to Windhoek, Namibia-to Cape Town

Jump to last reply

Looking to self drive this in late March 2010....have 15 nights...anyone driven Port Elizabeth to Upington on N10 recently that can report on road, scenery, petrol availability, remoteness and safety!! onwards to Windhoek, Namibia and then back down to Capetown....any thoughts on where to stay, what to see on this route...

Will the basic rental car with air condition be OK? or do I need 4X4?? may plan on doing drives into Dunes etc areas with local company day outings...any ideas of who to use and what to see and where to stay...not looking for luxury but good standard and if hot at nights air conditioning

Seasoned traveller....2 of us in good shape for being limitations for normal stuff...
