We will be spending a few days in Umhlanga next month and we were thinking of renting a car and driving to Hluhluwe for 2-3 nights to go on a self-drive safari. How easy is it to drive from Umhlanga to Hluhluwe, especially for people who have never driven on the other side of the road (we are Canadians).
Thanks!

Pretty easy. Lots of children walking (no sidewalks) and livestock and the dreaded speed bumps. It's not too difficult to drive on the "wrong" side, even with a manual transmission. Definitely go to Hluhluwe! Spend time in the southern part (ImFolozi) for great viewing. We loved it. The only non-self-catering option is Hilltop, and it was very nice. Do it if you can!!!
Thanks! We did look at Hilltop Camp and it looks good. We'll probably book 2 nights there. Still nervous about driving though eek! How long will the drive be?
Try google maps for times and directions. It's divided highway most of the way - easy!! What do you mean by eek?
There is a lovely craft shop just south of Hluhluwe. It was nice to meet a few local artisans and lots of variety. It's right on the highway.
