dress code in dubai
Hello, I'm going to Dubai with a few friends (men and woman) next week and I want to know a bit more about the behavior to adopt and the dress code.
We are canadians:
Can girls wear bikinis on the beach?
Can girls wear bikinis at the hotel?
Can girls wear shorts and t-shirts on the streets?
Do we need visas to get in Dubai?
The person inviting us tells me no, the hotel's web site says yes.
Are there lot's of bank machines to withdraw money in Dubai.
Should we arrive with money in Dubai or simply have it changed in Dubai?
Are we losing by changing our canadian money into american dollars and the chenged into Dyrhams?
Anything else about security for canadians and behavior tips will help me.
Thanks very, very much
luc

Well, Dubai is a very modern city expect it to be like Bangok. As of the dress code bikinis and shorts are all ok you might find it even that its just like back home. But Strolling around the hotel in bikini I dont think that is too common.
Visitors from canada can enter without a prior visa, but you have to pay 100 dhs on entry. Why dont you check with UAE's embassy in canada as well.
Since the dirhams fluctuate with US dollars so its just how canadian vary with US dollars. You can check www.xe.com for rates.

Hi
My wife and I went to Dubai in March a couple of years back...we had great fun there for about 9 days. We went to the beach, toured the Burj Al Arab, went shopping, went to the gold souq, went on a desert drive etc. I have posted a trip report with lots of pictures on my personal homepage http://gardkarlsen.com Maybe you can find some useful information there. Get in touch if you have questions or comments.
