My family will be in Jordan for about a week in July. We will be visiting Amman, Jerash, Petra, and Wadi Rum. We have time for one more place, either the Dead Sea or Aqaba. Which would you do?
Dead Sea or Aqaba?

You are doing a lot-How long will you be at Petra [it's amazing, 2 days would be great] and Wadi Rum-very cool. The Dead sea was fast fun. I loved the Red Sea in Egypt to relax. Don't do to much.

We just spent 5 days in Jordan (loved it!) - here was our itinerary
Day 1 arrival 10am - visited Bethany Beyond the Jordan on the way to our Dead Sea Hotel (Kempinski) for two nights (wonderful hotel)
Day 2 - Aljoun and Jerash and tour around Amman
Day 3 - en route to Petra stopped at Mt Nebo, Madaba and Karnak - stayed at Movenpick by the Petra Visitors centre
Day 4 - Petra all day
Day 5 - Little Petra, Wadi Rum and lunch/tour around Aqaba then returned to Amman airport for a late night departure.
I wish we had stayed longer - I would have liked to spend some time in Amman. Re your question - if you're snorkelers or divers then definitely Aqaba - but if you can stretch out another night or so I'd suggest staying at the Kempinski on the Dead Sea and relaxing!
Here's a link to our blog - photos and commentary re Jordan about 25% done - more coming up this week.

You know I really should use that preview function
"Ajloun" not 'Aljoun".
BTW - we had a great driver and guide - if you want more info let me know.
