Hello,
I have a three day stop-over in Dubai on my way to Europe. I would like to do a day trip to Oman (preferably the Musandam area) on one of my days there, but have only found one tour company that offers this (being "travel dubai").
I was just wondering if anyone on this forum knew of any tour companies that conducted day-trips from Dubai to Oman? Or whether anyone had used travel dubai and what their experience was?
Thank you in advance for your help!

I will be in the UAE in November, and after flying Dubai to Muscat, and spending time in Oman, I am flying from Muscat to Khasab and then overlanding back to Dubai. While I will rely on public transport (shared taxis, mostly) to get a better sense of the country, I did come across an operator (Khasab Tours or something like that, that you can google) in the peninsula.
My personal opinion. If you book a day trip to Muscat as a total package the agent is going to do your return flight, they will then simply arrange for a Muscat based operator to meet you, take you on a day tour, whichever you choose, and drop you back at the airport.
They might be able to do that cheaper, or it could be more expensive.
If you can sort out your own flight between Dubai and Muscat ( lots ) and then just book a tour of Muscat you could probably arrange just what you want. Viator which are realy big do tours of Muscat, Nizwa would be nice.
The flight is about 50 minutes, there are about 8 a day, Emirates and Oman Air code share most flights. Pity you could not perhaps fly to Muscat late afternoon early evening, have dinner at one of the great restaurants, then be fresh for tour next day.
I was in Khasab a few years ago. Flew there on Oman Air from Muscat, but I believe its much easier to get to Khasab from Dubai by driving.
While there I took a dhow trip through Khasab travel. One of the guys on the trip was from London, had been in Dubai on business, and simply rented a car and drove up by himself for the day.
Khasab was pretty barren, the main economy is from the Iranians who make nightly visits across the Straits to barter their sheep for cigarettes, although tourism is catching on.
Its quite specataular geographically, make sure you get out on the water too. It’s a very different environment that Muscat.

Thank you so much everyone for responding, it has been such a great help! I'm going to look into flights myself and see what the price difference is (I don't know why I hadn't thought of that, but I hadn't!)!
for flights, check Air Arabia, which flies our of Sharjah, an Emirate adjacent to Dubai, and I understand its airport is just as close to Dubai city center as Dubai's airport (or if not as close, almost as close). Its a budget carrier and its fares are much less than Emirates Airlines. They have only posted their schedule through September 22.
