Dahab to Petra to? Amman

Am thinking of going to Dahab on holiday and while I'm there I'd like to visit Petra. Several questions come to mind

1. What would be the simplest way of getting there and using local transportation, not flying: Dahab->Nweiba->Aqaba->Petra

I am also thinging whether I should schedule the Petra trip for the end of my holiday in Dahab and go to Amman from Petra and fly back to Sharm el-Sheikh to catch my return flight home rather than use up most of a day by returning via same route in reverse as I initially took.

3. Does anyone know of local travel companies either in Dahab or Jordan that could help me setup this little side-trip, including the flight from Amman to Sharm? Everything else is already planned and booked.

Any info greatly appreciated

Tom
