Well, our itinerary is almost finalized. Ngamba Island is not on it and we're okay with that.

My husband wants to go on two chimp treks to ensure that we see them. We arrive in the afternoon (would probably be past 1:00) and stay next door to the park.

The next day, the itinerary as of now is to trek in the AM and then do the Bidogi Swamp Walk in the PM.

On the morning after that, we leave for QENP, where we stay at Myewa Lodge and go on safari. The last morning there, however, we leave and take a chimp trek in the Gorge before heading over to Ishasha.

So...I am seeing three options:

1. switch the swamp walk with the chimp trek (so walk is AM and trek is PM)

or

2. just add a second morning trek the morning we leave for QENP, and drop the Gorge trek all together. That would be chimp trekking two mornings in a row.

or

3. leave it as is.

What do you think? We just want to make sure we see chimps. That's our goal.

If you can see chimps in Kibale, I'd spend the QE time on the Kazinga Channel, looking for Ugandan Kob and Giant Forest Hogs, and maybe the bat cave near Jacana Lodge.

I did something along the lines of #2. Previously I visited Chambura Gorge, which is a good option for chimps if you don't go to Kibale.

Thank you SO MUCH for answering me. We already have Kazinga in our itinerary. Let me show you just that part of the trip. I will take out all the details of each day:

Day 1 (of the part of the itinerry I am giving you)-Depart Kampala early morning for Kibale Forest.

Day 2-Morning Chimp Tracking. Afternoon visit to Bigodi Swamp and Community Women’s Group.

Day 3-Kibale Forest to Queen Elizabeth National Park-Evening game drive

Day 4-Morning game drive: Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel

Day 5-Queen Elizabeth National Park to Ishasha Sector, with morning visit to Kyambura Gorge in search of Chimpanzees.

Yes, I'd still do #2.

There is time for chimps in the morning and getting to QE by pm. because I have done it.

Your evening game drive in QE on Day 3 may be short, but you'll have more time on Day 5 for driving.
