Cape Town in 1 day
I'll be spending a weekend in Cape Town in early March. However, I only have one full day doing sightseeing on a Saturday. I wanna spend a half day touring Cape of Good Hope/Cape Point + Penguin colony in the morning and come back to Table Mountain in the afternoon and visit V&A Waterfront in the evening. Is it doable? Does anyone have a recommendation of a reputable tour company?

Hylton Ross - always. Long in business and reputable. I have had first hand experience and they are tops!

And ask for Wayne Maddams with Hylton Ross... great guide! Table Mountain often has the "tablecloth" (clouds) obscuring it, so you may find that going up in the early morning hours works better. You'll just have to see what's happening when you're there.

I agree with ShayTay - flip your itinerary and go to Table Mtn first thing in the morning, before the clouds and crowds descend. This will also allow you to return to Cape Town along Chapman's Peak Drive at sunset (do the Cape Peninsula tour in a clockwise direction - east coast/penguins first, west coast at the end of the day) - take a bottle of wine and enjoy a spectacular sunset over the Atlantic. Thank you guys! I will book a tour with Hylton Ross and see if I can go to Table Mtn first and then Cape Point that afternoon to enjoy the sunset!
On a separate note, do you guys know any good one-day tour to Pilanesberg game reserve? I'll be in JoBurg for one weekend and plan to spend one day to do a safari tour and another day back to the city to visit the Apartheid museum.

Saw this thread after doing a search and wanted to bookmark.
fatbully - did you take any of the tours?
We're only going to have about 1 1/2 days in Cape Town in June 2014 before we fly back to Johannesburg to join friends to leave on safari. This gave me a couple of ideas.

There really is only one person who can make one day in Cape Town ultra-special and memorable and she is Pam McOnie of Cape Fusion Tours - www.capefusiontours.com. You won't regret it.

I agree - Hylton Ross is the best company to do this and Wayne Maddams or Christian do Kooning are top guides. To fit everything in that you want to do I would suggest a private tour as the Cape Peninsula & Penguins tour doesn't touch on Table Mountain, although you do go to Kirstenbosch Gardens. Ask to be dropped off at the top gate of the gardens and met at the bottom gate at least an hour later. You can do the waterfront on your own in the evening without having a guide.
Have a great day.
