"Cancel For Any Reason" Travel Insurance!

http://www.travelsafe.com/

(This is not an endorsement as I have no experience with the product, but I do think it will be worthwhile to consider such travel insurance)

Interesting concept, but understandably expensive. The premium for a 2-week, $8000 trip for a 58-year-old was $1280. The deductible for "cancel for any reason" is 10% of the trip cost, or $800.

"If you purchase the Cancel For Any Reason Benefit Option, you can cancel your Trip for any reason not otherwise covered by the policy and be reimbursed for 75% of the prepaid, forfeited, non-refundable Payments or Deposits you paid for your Trip"

Is there a separate 10% deductible on top of the 25%?

Patty, I believe that the 75% refund is for the less-expensive Vacation Insurance plan. The 90% refund is for the Premier plan.

Comparing premiums for an $8000 trip, the 75% refund plan has a $735 premium, and the 90% refund plan has a $1280 premium.

Thanks for point that out. I hadn't noticed the other plan. At at premium of $1445 for the 90% coverage for us, I think I'll pass.
