Can I check bags from US thru JNB to WDH?

Not sure whether I should plan on going thru customs at JNB. Have gotten conflicting answers from 2 SAA agents. SAA has been driving me nuts, they keep changing my seat assignments, made one hour time changes without notification (and I have a transfer), and then I can't get a human being on the phone in the US - had to call South Africa. (Hmm just had to get that off my chest!)
