Hello!
My husband and I (germans) plan to do a "lastminute" 7 day-safari to the Okavango. Booking of campsite is too late anyway and we also got the information "every campsite in the Okavango aerea is fully booked in September. All we can do is to stay overnight in Maun and drive to Moremi as a day-visitor, which means a lot of driving every day. We have already made a reservation for a 4x4 vehicle with roof-tent and are driving from Windhoek to Maun - arriving on the 19th. of september. Does anybody have a tip or advise for that problem?

If there is an itinerary that can be worked out this late in the game, they will do it. They are in Maun where most campsite operators have their offices. Driving from Maun to Moremi for daytrips makes no sense. There are some alternatives you overlooked.
Been some recent discussions here about driving in Bots. Here's one from two weeks ago, if you have not read it, may open your eyes.
