Botswana and Cape Town temperatures in May-June
We will be on safari in Botwana the last week of May and into June. Then a few days in Cape Town. What should we expect for temperatures in morning/evening? What type of clothing do we need? Is fleece enough? Or do we need more?
This is the last of our planning and cannot believe it has come down to this!!
THANK YOU!

It could be downright cold in the morning, so dress in layers. Keep in mind you are going out in an open vehicle - at 30mph or more, it feels even colder. This is what I wore in June 2011:
T-shirt
Long sleeved T or turtleneck
Cashmere sweater - the heaviest one I own
Fleece
Ear muffs, gloves
By the end of the game drive, I was usually down to the long sleeves. Even my "tough" husband wore the same, minus the sweater, but a heavier fleece. There are also blankets on the vehicles - which I use with pride! I've even sat in the front with the guide once or twice for the heat.

We spent May June in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia back in 2004. We found the nights chilly, properly cold, and likewise further into the day if it was overcast, but most days were pleasantly sunny. I can't recall temperatures, but layers/ fleeces were good, and we did have gloves, scarves and hats with us which we used when in open safari vehicles early morning and after sunset.
We hate the heat, so for us, this was a great time to travel.

butch - glad to help. We hope to be able to get back to the Delta someday. It's a special place. Haven't been since 2006.
I forgot to mention to take your layers on the evening drive. It gets cold when the sun goes down. In CT, I wore the same clothes as on safari. Since I had layers, I could mix and match.
